SARDINIA - NEBIDA

This place captivated me from the photos when we were looking for accommodation near Cagliari airport, where we conveniently found a flight this year. From the beginning, we intended to go for a week to bask in the sun and enjoy as much sea and sunshine as possible before we start packing sweaters and coats for the upcoming autumn. That's why I purposely share this tip here, for excursions. There will also be an itinerary for Sardinia, as the island definitely has a lot to offer for exploration, but I believe you will appreciate something for relaxation and stopping as well.

The photos in the accommodation offer suggested that this would be the perfect place. And it was. For me, as a sunset lover, I couldn't have wished for anything better. The holiday home belonged to an Italian family who rents it out during the period when they do not need it. The house is part of a holiday complex with a restaurant and a swimming pool, whose great advantage is the location with an open view of the sea. However, not all houses in the complex have this view. You can make a reservation here.

Beaches

There are plenty of coves with beautiful beaches in the vicinity of Nebida. I appreciated their diversity, as we chose a different one every day, and each one enchanted me with its specific atmosphere. We selected beaches to drive to within 10 to 30 minutes, and we would like to thank the owners of our accommodation for their great tips and recommendations not only for beaches but also for restaurants and other useful information they provided us with for our stay, which I can share with you here.

A car will certainly come in handy in this location, as getting around without one would be challenging. We rented one directly from the airport, where the pickup went smoothly, even though we picked it up at 1 am. The car rental company had cars parked right outside the terminal exit, so we could head straight to Nebida within an hour of arriving.

La spiaggia di Porto Paglia

There is a beautiful, expansive beach about 15 minutes from the accommodation. On the way there or back, you can stop for groceries in Gonnesa. Prices for food in Nebida are higher, so we usually went to the Conad City supermarket. There are also a few cafes in the town, nothing exclusive, but the coffee is excellent anywhere in Italy. :)

Masua

This bay was probably our favorite. There are two small beaches with fine, white sand: Portu Cauli and Molo. From the spot, you have a view of the rocky cliff of Pan di Zucchero, which stands directly in front of the ancient Porto Flavia port. There is a nice and pleasant beach restaurant on site.

Cala Domestika

I recommend not to miss this picturesque, enclosed bay. It is a great place not only for snorkeling. Many visitors take a stone path to a small beach around the corner behind the cliff. We swam there and spent some time lying on the sand. I also recommend swimming to the back, at the boundary of the right cliff, where caves open up. We swam directly into them, it was beautiful. On the way back, we climbed up the cliffs to rest. An amazing place.

Fontanamare

This more expansive beach is the closest to the accommodation. It's a bit windier, so you can enjoy some waves here.

Portopaglietto

Another nice beach, this time rather urban, with fine sand.

What to see in the surroundings

The cove of "Laveria"

You can take a walk to this place directly from the accommodation. We decided to go there in the morning before breakfast and it was a beautiful start to the day. The path leads directly from the gate near the restaurant. It can be a bit challenging in some places, but you will be rewarded with stunning views.

The hilltop viewpoint in Nebida

Another beautiful walk that is worth taking, and I recommend doing it in the evening during sunset. The hill, with its neon sign Nebida, is definitely hard to miss. It takes about 30 minutes to get up there from the accommodation. It's worth going a little earlier so you can enjoy the whole sunset from the top. It's a beautiful sight.

Iglesias

A visit to this small town, located about half an hour from Nebida, will enchant you mainly with the promenade under colorful umbrellas.

Where to eat well in the area

Ristorante "S'Anninnia"

This restaurant in Gonnesa is truly excellent and at very reasonable prices. We ordered the seafood tasting here and everything was delicious. Highly recommended.

Dal Capitano

Restaurant with pizzeria in Nebida.

906 Operaio

Restaurant in Nebida with a beautiful view. You can find it below the hill with the viewpoint.

Locanda L'Agusteri

Restaurant directly in the accommodation complex.
